BASE CASE: THE ULTRAPORTABLE MOBILE WORKSTATION

3D Product demo animation

Year :

2025

Industry :

Crowdfunding / Startups

Client :

Arthur Jessop / Base Case

Project Duration :

4 weeks

Director :

Francis J

Design :

CAD model - Josh Workman

Animation :

Francis J

Problem :

Remote workers and content creators constantly sacrifice screen real estate when traveling. Arthur Jessop had a bold concept - a carry-on suitcase that unfolds into a dual-monitor workstation - but it existed only as sketches. To launch on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, he needed a video that could make investors believe the product was real.

Solution :

Starting from Arthur's sketches, I built a full 3D product demo animation — the suitcase opening in a lifestyle environment, monitors unfolding, legs deploying, ports highlighted, and the premium finish on full display. The video served investors as a vision piece and manufacturers as a production reference.

Challenge :

The product had no physical prototype. Everything had to be built from concept sketches alone — designing, animating, and presenting a product that didn't yet exist in a way that felt credible enough to attract serious funding.

Summary :

The Indiegogo campaign for Base Case raised $513,173 USD from 324 backers (attach funding screenshot here). A concept that lived only in sketches became a fully funded product. Arthur has since launched the official Base Case website, and the product is now available for purchase - driven from idea to market by a 3D demo video.
